I just had a bomber (22oz bottle) of the Stone Imperial Russian Stout this evening. Imperial Russian Stout is one of my favorite styles and this was certainly no disappointment. It's not a beer for the timid.
At 10.4% ABV, it's not a sessionable beer. One bottle was almost too much for me, but it was very drinkable. Coffee and bitter chocolate bathe your taste buds followed by a hint of hops and alcohol.
It poured a jet black with a creamy dark brown head and the viscosity of a light oil. It was bold, it was rich and it was worth the price of 7 bucks!
I intend to buy a few more of these and cellar them for several months before opening another.
If you see it - buy it!
I give it 4.5 hop cones out of 5.
