Tucked away in a small industrial building on a side street about two and a half blocks off of Main Street in the little town of Colville, WA (pop. 5000) is a tiny brewery and tavern operation. You have to be there on the right days and hours if you want a chance to sample Chip Trudell's brews. His hours are: Wednesday-Thursday 4:00pm-6:00pm, Friday 4:00pm-8:00pm. We lucked out and got there around 5pm on Thursday and had a chance to taste Chip's tasty brews.
The guy is basically a one man operation. he's about one step above a home brewer. He's the only guy there and he does it all.
I sampled both the Rye and the Nut Brown. I lost my notes from that day, but I do remember I liked them both. I'd never had a Rye before and found it to be somewhat light and refreshing. However, I liked the Nut Brown a tiny bit better. It was nutty and malty and true to the style.
I don't remember what he charged per pint but it was very reasonable. I bought a half gallon growler of his nut brown ale. I paid 10 bucks for both the beer and the bottle (which includes the Lost Falls Logo). That's pretty darned reasonable and it's good beer to boot. We'll be crackin' open the growler tonight to celebrate our son-in-law's commissioning.
Cheers!
