A guy I know put me on to Bell's selection of beers...he knows way more about beer than I do, but he has no social skills, so you'll have to deal with my thoughts in lieu of his. Bell's Brewery is based out of Kalamazoo, MI, home of the Western Michigan Broncos, the gravesite of famed abolitionist Sojourner Truth, and the startling likelihood that you will get assaulted.
They have a full line of beers, and I haven't tried nearly all of them, but I have tried enough to know that they are worth a look. The porter is particularly noteworthy, with plenty of chocolate and coffee flavors. The Pale Ale is quite light, and is one of those beers that you, probably unfortunately, could comfortably down by threes. I just recently discovered their seasonal summer ale, called Oberon Ale. While I don't always support naming things after kings, elves, or kings among elves, I do support naming things after terrific Weber operas, so I was in it to win it. Like most summer ales, it is a wheat beer with a balance of fruity and spicy, but I find it more on the spicy side than, say, Sam Adams Summer Ale.
Here's a link to their website: Bell's
I'm not entirely sure if Bell's beers are readily available throughout the country or not. They sell them at Cost Plus World Market here in Kansas City, so perhaps a look there if you have one of those in your fair city is in order.
Bell's isn't exactly my favorite beer, but I'm drinking one now, if that tells you anything besides, "Jesus, that CrackLaden is drinking prior to 6 pm..." My special lady is out of town, all right? That good enough for you?! If you're into exploring something just enough outside the mainstream to seem cosmopolitan and interesting but still actually tasting like good beer, give Bell's a try.

I spent ten years in Dee-troit and am quite familiar with Bell's, Third Coast being among my favorites. I've never seen it outside of Michigan, though... and more's the pity. It's good to hear their distribution has improved and you have it in KC.
Nice blog. The world needs more beer blogs! (I dropped in on the recommendation of Blog-Bud Cynthia)
